Consultation

What is involved

Selection of a homeopathic medicine is individually tailored to the person and his or her symptoms.

Homeopathy looks at the person with a disease according to how he or she is specifically affected. This individual holistic approach means that people with a whole variety of problems can potentially benefit from homeopathy.

The Consultation

A first consultation with me can take up to 1½hrs. This is because I take this time, as we talk together, to build up a personal picture that is typical of you and how your complaint affects you, noting any significant past health problems in yourself and your close relatives. You can be sure that you will be treated with respect and in confidence.

As homeopathy is holistic, everything about you (physical, emotional and mental) is taken into account in selecting a personalised remedy. How you feel, whether through physical sensations or emotionally, is relevant no matter what the problem.

After the consultation I assess all the information and select a medicine which is ideally allowed to act for an appropriate length of time before reviewing progress.

I will not be asking you to make changes apart from taking the remedy, but I will encourage you to take responsibility for improving your own health, for example by contacting me in between appointments if you have any concerns, or in other ways beside homeopathy, perhaps through attention to diet and lifestyle. I suggest that you maintain your relationship with your GP, who may have already given you a diagnosis, or arranged diagnostic tests, and you should discuss any potential changes in your conventional medication (if applicable) with him or her.

Taking the remedy

The medicine is usually either virtually tasteless tablets which should be left to dissolve in the mouth, or granules to make up in water and take in liquid form. An essential part of the process is reviewing progress at a follow-up appointment, enabling the regime to be modified if necessary.

In between appointments I can be contacted for support if you have any concerns. Otherwise it may be helpful for you to note down changes as they occur and bring the notes to your review appointment.
